It is surrounded by our own and other farmland with magnificent views stretching for miles around so that even the Tors of Dartmoor can be seen to the south. The peace and tranquillity of Kerscott is remarked on by many, we have no near neighbours. The several hundred square miles of Exmoor comprises the prettiest of all our National Parks and for those of you who may have followed the TV Programmes of Johnny Kingdon, who lives in our village, will have an idea of just how beautiful and diverse in wildlife this area is. Indeed for those who closely watch those programmes Johnny's "My Land" is in a valley directly opposite the farmhouse. In our central position on the edge of the Exmoor National Park we are ideally located for exploring this tranquil and truly rural part of England with its beautiful countryside, moorland, quiet lanes and villages and dramatic coastline. The market towns of South Molton and Barnstaple with its wonderful flowers and good range of shops are within easy distance. For garden lovers RHS Rosemoor is closeby and the Eden project is just a picturesque two hours drive away.
We are delighted and extremely proud that the official Government approved VisitBritain has awarded us, a real working farm, the very top quality assurance standard of FIVE STARS and additionally the extremely coveted GOLD AWARD (for hospitality, comfort and cleanliness). Likewise, the Automobile Association has also awarded us FIVE STARS thus becoming part of their AA PREMIER COLLECTION and placed me twice in their list of top twenty landladies. I have also won 'Best Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast' in the Taste of the West Awards and have been chosen by national and county tourism organizations to host overseas travel journalists and to feature in national woman's magazines. These standards are not easily achieved and maintained and to this end we have set our tariff at a level more than competitive and is excellent value for those who care for the standards of their accommodation.
